Q.7 Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in progression from it to the full proudct ?

In these frames it shows the improvements from using different types of shots in my prelum task, which I have progressed in my scary movie opening. In the first frame we used a lot high angle shot and used this in the beginning of the scary movie. We made the shots look better in our horror movie and we had to put the tripod on top of the table to make a high angle shot.

The secound four frames showed the four shots we used in our horror movie opening. The first frame shows an establishing shot, high angle shot, meduim and split screen shot. We tried to use as much of the shots in our horror movie but we made sure we used the main ones.

The third four frames is our prelum task, this is when we used the main shots. From doing this helped prepare   ourselves for our scary movie opening. I learnt to use the camera from different ways which will create various moods to effect our play.

Video On Demand

Video on demand (VoD) is an interactive TV technology that allows subscribers to view programming in real time or download programs and view them later, the concept is that with a VoD service, you can watch the TV programe or movie you want then when you want, without having to wait for a programme to start, worrying about forgetting to record a programme, or making a trip to your local Blockbuster video.

These are some companies that offer VoD such as: Virgin media cable tv, BT vision, Talk Talk tv, Sky digital, Top Up Tv anytime and Tv on a PC for example iplayer.  The two of the most important opportunities surrounding Video-on-Demand and other aspects of new market developement, and the threats to exploiting the commercial potential of these arising from the truly global problem of audio-visual copyright and infringement.

  • Video-on-Demand, whether accessed through TV or online delivery channels, is likely to replace the DVD rental market for films and a significant proportion of the film DVD sales market within a few years.
  • It is likely that that the UK film VoD market, worth around £115 million in 2009, will expand quickly and significantly over the coming years as new services are rolled out to consumers. Coupled with the potential to increase sales of „back catalogue‟ releases, as has been seen in the music industry with the growth of the download market, we believe VoD has the potential to increase total film video revenues, which currently stand at around £1.5 billion.

Q.3.What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

BabyScissors
'BabyScissors' is a small budget film and is the type of horror movie that will creep out an audience and make them remember the film and want to tell others about this scary movie. Me and my partner's production company name is 'Movie CO', and we have made sure are film is going to be successful.

I personally feel that 'The Weinstein Company' should distribute our film because the weinstein company is one of most popular biggest americn film studio that has produced so may successful films such as 'The King Speech,
The kings speech made $373,700,000 , This film was captured the imagination of cinema audiences around the world. It has become a critically acclaimed, worldwide box-office success. The weinstein company distributes this film very well by advertising. For a british film, the King Speech made a lot of money, by the mechandising and downloading websites and attracted the audience. Also the fact that it explores the royal history.

However the Weinsten Company has also made other various films that been published. such as My Week with Marilyn, the Artist and Halloween which also is a horror movie. 'Halloween' made a lot of money, $80,249,467. This scary movie is very popular and even made more movies for example, Halloween 2, and etc. Me and my partner feel positive that our movie  'BabyScissors' can become successful too.

I Think that BabySiccors should be shown at Cineworld and Odeon because these are two most known cinemas and is very local and has shown other dozens of movies. Personally i feel that the majority of people in the UK are aware of Odeon and Cineworld so its likey they will come and watch 'BabyScissors in these two cinemas.

Q.1 In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and convention of real media products?

Our horror movie, we decveloped conventions by looking at other scary movie with serial killers such as 'The messenger;'Disturbia' and Mirror.
  • The conventions we used in the first ,seventh and sixth frame are props to jar filled in blood and hair which automatically lets the audience know the genre of the film. Also it makes it more mysterious and creepy. It gives a clue on what the scary movie going to be about.
  • The secaoud frame is shown by high angle to capture the victim on the floor hurt and is in danger, it shows the serial killers feet as it he is looking down on at his victim. The convention in this frame is the costume which shows in all frame. The serial killer is dressed scruffy and in black and the babysitter is also dressed in black and is dressed causal to create an innocent young lady.
  • The third frame captures the setting, the 'Serial Killer' house where the drama is mostly happeneds. The babysitter walks in the house carmly not knowing their she;s in danger. The convention we used in this frame is props, the babysitter has a hangbag and is wearing heels. Aslo the sound of her footsteps expresses the anticipation of danger.
  • The fourth frame shows the 'killer' is looking through the hole so the convention we used is camera work ,the 'serial killer' bending down to look through the hole.
  • The fifth frame we used was an etablishing shot of the house... The convention we used in the title of our film, the font type is bold and spooky.
  • The eighth frame, features the two characters, the first frame is a split scene shot showing the killer spiking the babysitter drink and the babysitter going through her bag. The convention we used is the prop, the white powder he pores into water.

Q.2. How does your media product represent social groups ?

Theirs only two characters that play in 'Babyscissors' , the victim...(Me) which plays the babysitter and the 'serial killer' who pretends to be a man who has children... The babysitter has a very casual look, she expects to be interviewed and is dressed in a black jumper, geans and boots. She's in her early twenties and her appeareance shows she's a innocent young lady.

Whereas the 'Serial killer' plays the pretend father but he really has an obsession for hair and murders young woman.... The 'serial killer' shows he has killed many other people that has been fooled by his charm... He has jars of blood and hair in his fridge which the audience witnessess before the babysitter comes in. Personally I think my serial killer reminds me of the serial killer that plays in 'Disturbia'

This is because he acts calm and friendly towards the victim and comforts her. This makes it more creepy for the audience because it lets them know that he is up to something and the 'victim' is in danger. This usually happeneds in a lot of horror and thriller movies so me and my partner thought it will good to have this in our horror movie opening.

I also think our serial killer acts the same way as the one in 'Disturbia' because he has dead bodies thats been kept in his basement and the setting is in his house, just like 'Babyscissors' the opening is set in the serial killers house and he also has blood kept in his fridge which shows he has killed before.
